Today, we are incredibly proud to share that Smokeball has been named on the 2022 Australia's Best Workplaces™ for Women List, which identifies organisations across the country committed to fostering equity in the workplace, ensuring their women employees feel safe, heard, challenged, and valued.
This recognition is warmly welcomed as a company in the traditionally male-dominated technology sector that invests not only in ensuring equity across all staff, but in developing a work culture that helps every person thrive according to their own needs.
This honour was awarded by Great Place to Work®, the global authority on workplace culture, employee experience and leadership behaviours, after surveying thousands of female employees across Australia. 98 per cent of Smokeball’s female employees believe it is a great place to work with the same amount saying they can be fully themselves at work, are treated fairly regardless of their gender, are in a psychologically and emotionally healthy workplace and are encouraged to balance their work and personal lives.
Scoring 97 per cent in leadership behaviour that resonates with company values, supporting women in the workplace is driven from the top by a leadership team that is 64 per cent female.
“In my view building a ‘best workplace for women’ goes much deeper than providing a progressive Paid Parental Leave policy,” explains Eve Pinamoura, Director of People and Culture, Smokeball. “It’s also about creating sustainable and healthy long-term working conditions that set women up for success. Our work culture focuses on output rather than working hours, and as a result this has normalised work flexibility – a factor that is often top of a women’s list! I see many females in leadership and non -leadership roles across the team thriving in part-time and remote conditions, with the confidence in knowing that these choices will not impact their ability to prosper or be promoted.”
Supporting all employees, Smokeball was rated 100 per cent by women as a physically safe place to work and where they are treated fairly regardless of their age and race.
On building an inclusive workplace culture Bianca Bowron-Cuthill, General Manager, Smokeball shares “In my career, I have learnt valuable techniques from women who have inspired me and have walked the path. I learned how to adapt those teachings into a leadership style that works for our organisation - role modelling and leading by example. We look for diversity, inclusion, and dynamic, innovative women here at Smokeball. Establishing gender balance and having an eclectic mix of thoughts, ideas, and experiences is what builds great cultures.”
